Virtual reality (VR) movies are rapidly growing in popularity just as they are with videogames. While several flimmakers have either released or begun work on 360 degree videos that can be viewed with the likes of the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD), some of the most influential people in the industry are starting to take interest in it. Peter Jackson, the director of The Lord of the Rings trilogy and, more recently, The Hobbit trilogy, is the latest Hollywood name to be tied to the technology.

VRFocus - Earlier this week Codemasters released its anticipated patch for top-down racing videogame, Toybox Turbos, adding support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). Oddly enough, today sees the launch of another patch for another top-down racer, again adding support for the device. This time its BlazeRush from indie developer Targem Games thats treating fans to VR support with a free patch integrating the Oculus Rifts second development kit (DK2) and bringing the title to version 1.0.3.

VRFocus - Back in August 2014 VRFocus reported on the launch of a new virtual reality (VR) rollercoaster named Lava Inc. for the Oculus Rift head-mounted displays (HMD) second development kit (DK2). Developed by The Virtual Dutch Men, it was one of the first experiences of this type to support the latest version of Oculus VRs device. This week sees Lava Inc. come to new platforms including the Google Cardboard smartphone-based HMD and Durovis Dive.

VRFocus - It's already been a big week for indie developer Unello Design. The team has just released its virtual reality (VR) compatible relaxation experience, Eden River, onto the Android mobile operating system (OS) with support for the Google Cardboard smartphone-based head-mounted display (HMD). The title is currently available on handsets for £1.27 GBP. But if you would rather play the experience on PC with the Oculus Rift then you're in luck; today sees the launch of the full PC version of Eden River following its pre-release version

Verde Station Launches Full Version, VR Suppport to Follow

VRFocus - Its a rare sight in this day and age when an indie developer manages to make a videogame announcement and follow it through all the way to release without the need of a Kickstarter crowd-funding campaign. Duelboot Games has done just that with virtual reality (VR) compatible title, Verde Station. The developer announced the title with Oculus Rift support via a Steam Greenlight campaign back in July 2014. Following on in September an Early Access version of the title was released. Today sees Verde Station launch a full version, albeit with VR support till to come.

August 2014 saw indie developer Carlos Coronado launch his first-person puzzle title, MIND: Path to Thalamus on Steam. The title launched without any support for the Oculus Rift virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD), although the developer did assure that it would be coming later on. Theres still no specific date attached to the videogames VR integration, but the developer has at least recently assured that it will be arriving in the near future.

VRFocus - One of the best surprises of the year for virtual reality (VR) enthusiasts has been that Codemasters manic table top racing title, Toybox Turbos, will be seeing support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD). The developer revealed as much back in November, promising that integration would arrive as a free update for the PC version of the title this month. Today the studio makes good on that promise as VR support for Toybox Turbos goes live.

VRFocus - While there were plenty of announcements to be made at this months PlayStation Experience fan event in Las Vegas, Nevada, few related to the Project Morpheus virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD) for PlayStation 4. However one big announcement that Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) VP of Publisher and Developer Relations Adam Boyes did make was that Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes had been ported from PC, where it supports the Oculus Rift PC HMD, to PlayStation 4 with Project Morpheus integration. According to Boyes, that port only took a couple of days to carry out.

VRFocus - With the horror videogame genre already starting to fill up with virtual reality (VR) compatible titles, developers need to start offering good reasons to pay attention to their work over others. One such developer is First Rule Studios, which is currently working on a 'high-intensity' first-person VR experience currently named Project Jump Scare. This month the team has launched its first demo for the title, which features full support for the Oculus Rift head-mounted display (HMD) on PC.
